List of books I bought in August/September

I have been trying to find the time to post this (and actually remember to do so) since the last week of September so I’m glad I have finally done it. I’m starting to think that perhaps I buy more books each month than I should, or that I can afford. I happened to find quite a lot of well priced books these past few months so I think you can imagine why I felt compelled to buy quite so many. Here is my list:

  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (they had Collins Classics for $3 at Aldi’s and I’d been desperately searching for a second-hand copy of this novel for quite some time)
  • The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald  (also a Collins Classic - I can’t tell you the number of times I almost bought this for $10 as a Penguin book)
  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (Collins Classic)
  • Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (Collins Classic - I’m sticking to my promise of reading this quite soon)
  • Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (Collins Classic)
  • The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett (Collins Classic)
  • The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (Collins Classic - I may have spent almost all of my remaining cash on these books over the span of two days)
  • The Casuals by Sally Breen (I actually won this from HarperCollins on facebook in a ‘tell us your favourite 90’s movie and why’ competition one Wednesday afternoon while I was sick - I said 10 Things I Have About You
  • Save Me the Waltz by Zelda Fitzgerald (I could only afford to pay for half of this book at DFO Jindalee so my mother paid for the other half)
  • Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (my sister insisted on buying this for me from the Strathpine flea markets after she spotted me staring at it longingly because I’ve wanted a copy for years - it was $3 and it’s a copy from the 70’s in excellent condition)
